Beatrice, Dante, forbidden, sonnet

You have offered yourself a dozen times,
but it’s only self-control that I prize.
Mine, not yours. I understand you. Sometimes
I can understand mine too. I despise
what I’ve become. I long for green sunshine
in the oaks. Shadows of leaves that crisscross
across the wondrous curve of your spine
as you lay spread out on your bed of moss.
All that is gone. Out from the blackness pins
point to light, become shafts we’ll devour
together. I miss finding brand new sins
that we would deny ourselves. I miss our
summer days in the grass when we would play
at love-sick Beatrice and sly Dante.

Is that where the fear lies? When the dead girl
turns all the way around and we behold …

one more sad, misshaped face — one more swirl
of dark, untidy hair — blue skin stone cold —
X of a broken neck — empty drowned eyes.

You know that party trick; it’s all you hear
about. I wouldn’t call it total “lies,”
but there has to be more. A ghost unclear
on the concept just gets laughed at. Darling,

come live with me. We’ll figure something out.
There’s more to death than clammy skin, creaking
floors and causing the irksome to freak-out.

Smile, my honey dear, while, I kiss away
your tears … drops of blood, of dust, drops of gray.

desire, forbidden, Spanish, thigh bone, translation, un santo italiano hueso del muslo

Yo soy

un objeto

vulgar que desea

consumir

a cualquier precio.

Un santo italiano

hueso del muslo.

Yo soy lleno

de cosas nuevas,

pero no para usted.

Hay estrellas

en mi boca .

(I am a vulgar object you want to consume at any cost. An Italian saint’s thighbone. I am full of new things, but not for you. There are stars in my mouth)

Hermana de Cain, sin nombre.

Un deseo prohibida.

Una secreta pasión.

Una delicia terrenal.

Diario vivir, respirar segundo

a segundo. Ella aún recordó cuando

las dedos de ella hermano, jugaban

con los tetinas de ella senos.

Érase una vez había un jardín

del deseo. Caín tuvo relaciones

sexuales con su hermana,

provocando un estallido

de humedad en ese lugar calido

y ardiente de ella intimidad.

Ella quedó embarazada y dio

a luz a Enoc. ¿sino prohibida?

Era la Amanecer de la Humanidad.

Todo estaba delicioso.

(Cain’s sister, unnamed. A desire forbidden. A secret passion. An earthly delight. Daily living, breathing second to second. She still remembered when her brother’s fingers played with the nipples of her breasts. Once upon a time there was a garden of desire. Cain had sex with his sister, causing a burst of moisture in that warm and fiery place of her privacy. She became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. But forbidden? It was the dawn of mankind. Everything was delicious)
