tiburon tarot the fool

THE FOOL:

I have been working on an ocean-based Tarot deck for a while (at first I was calling it “La Mer,” an older French term for the ocean, until a friend pointed out calling your deck “Lamer” might not work out so well). The first card in the deck is The Fool, which represents taking the first step in the path you are following. The Rider-Waite deck shows a young man, his head in the air, walking toward the brink of a cliff, while a small dog barks to get his attention to what is about to happen.

In this version, a woman takes her first step into the sea with her spirit guide, in this case a spirit shark, glides silently by her side. The kelp part as they pass through, since once you know the language of the sea it will do anything for you. Because she is new to all this she must keep her head out of the water in order to breath; until she can master her fear of the unknown and begin swimming she will not be able to go very far, which is true with all of us when encountering something as vast and supernatural as the ocean for the first time.

If you can please a cat then you can please
a ghost, I believe. They’re so similar.
Cats. Ghosts. Sharks. Killers that love their bellies
scratched. I’ve touched shark snout, ghost skin and cat fur.
I could lie, tell you that I understood
what was under my hand. I could, perhaps.
Cats and ghosts both seek out love: that odd, good
human talent, but once they have it lapse
into indifference. Sharks are simply
curious and like to play. But knowing
that, I know nothing. I love mystery
but I can’t explain it. I can just sing.
Of cats’ ghostly needs, the kitten-like ghost
prowling, the shark’s soul that I love the most.

Darling, eu amo ser bebido

com este mundo. Eu amo

o câncer, o Tubarão-branco e Conan.

Eu amo saber que eu vou morrer,

porque de outra pessoa. Tiburón,

tubarão, shark. Nosso toque dos lábios.

Como todos os bárbaros é assim que

nós trocamos esporra, boca a boca.

Seja canção de Lorelei
ou o tubarão no mar.
De onda gigante onde,
como um orgasmo,
espera e anoitece
O teu corpo afogamento,
um sereia rara.

English:

Be a song of Lorelei or the shark in the sea. Where the giant wave, like an orgasm, waits and grows dark. Your body drowning, a rare mermaid.
