Was there blood. I didn’t know what I saw.
My breath gurgled down deep inside my chest.

I saw — what. First time you unclasped your bra
for me, your nephew, I saw your right breast,

upturned, beads of sweat dripping down. First time
you pulled your jeans around your knees I saw

your tight parted curls that tasted of thyme,
amber and lust under my tongue. Cat’s paw

tattoo, clit ring, missing toe. I saw all
of this. But now blood. Everywhere on me.

My blood. “What happened?” I whispered. But you
silenced me with your lips. My breath: a small

rusty gasp. “I am here to set you free,
naughty boy,”
she said. “My foolish nephew.”

You’ve heard this before. Now and then. The soul
springs up alive. Polarized eyes then blink.
Useless limbs quiver. The heart, all charcoal
and ash, resumes. Flies move off and the stink
of your green rot fades and you flush and blush
and flame. Something below your slumbering
belly stirs. Poor Lazarus was all mush-
pulp when he rose. But we are no offspring
of sky gods. Our mothers taught us better.
Insatiable. Orgasms are doorways
to all that’s divine. What sort of sinner
would turn a blind eye on this holy praise?
Lets go together, passing through that door
once more, to see all our mothers once more.

Deixa chover: deixe absorver-me.

Este é o meu gosto: meu sabor, mina.

Afoga-me, todo cerca-me, ele encharca, e ele sacia.

A minha de longas molhado noites… de alegrias breves.

Eu vou cantar, a cappella.

Eu vou cantar, este é o meu punheta.

In English:

Let it rain, let it soak me. This is my taste: my taste, mine. Drown me, all around me, it soaks and it satisfies. My long wet night … of brief joys. I’ll sing a’cappella. I will sing, this is my handjob.
