One of the more honest things about the Internet is that it allows the wealthy, obsessed with masks, to keep the ones they wear firmly fixed in place. And by “wealthy” I mean you. Everything we do here — from blogging our writing to posting what we find interesting to trolling who we hate to all our attempts at social activism that only 1% of the world has access to — never once allows the world to see who we are, only how we want to be seen. Which is a form of power. Which is why the revolution (if such a thing even exists) will never happen on-line. This is a gated-community, an echo chamber, one of the many realms where only those who can afford electricity, a computer and time can play. Perhaps this might seem obvious, but so is pointing out misogyny and that’s something that happens every day and people still haven’t learned their lesson.
It’s not a matter of saying “no more masks!” since masks are the only thing we have here.
